terribly tough to sum up, but i started this journal because i've recently been more private about being trans, which makes it hard for me to talk talk about trans related issues. so in a way, this journal emphasizes a really specific side of me. i am many many things, but for the purposes of this journal, i am a postop trannie who has chosen to be private (i hate the word stealth) about my history, even though i continue to be politically active, queer-friendly, and generally a rabblerouser. i don't think the two things are mutually exclusive.

i made the choice of privacy because i was really really out in a previous city, and found myself really being viewed strictly through a trans lens. it made me feel rigidly defined and objectified and i want to take a break from that for a while, to come into a more gradual and hopefully nuanced relationship to my history.
